In high school I was the quietly, competitive, introvert. I channeled that competitive nature through volleyball, track & field and tennis, lots of cardio based sports and exercise. After high school, I was one of those girls in her late teens/early 20’s who wouldn’t go near any dumbbells or weight of any kind, I thought if I did, I would turn bulky and big. Eventually, I found a love in weightlifting and working out on a weekly basis. I accomplished a neat goal of training and competing in 2 bodybuilding competitions, placing in the top 5 in my categories. After that journey ended, I found a new love for crossfit, I always heard the stereotypical statements that crossfit was dangerous. That couldn’t be further from the truth, you can get hurt anywhere, at any gym, so it is important having the right coaches to train you and coach you through movements, correctly. I found that at Nerve Health and Fitness! Now I’ve been doing CrossFit for 4 years and love it so much! I love it so much that I wanted to be a motivating impact on our community, my journey of coaching is evolving. I am now coaching the youth of Nerve Health and Fitness, doing one on one training with new members and beginning my opportunities as a coach for adult classes!
My turning point was back in early 2018, I had gone to my yearly physical appointment. I was 20lbs-25lbs overweight, eating everything and anything fast food, sugar, processed junk, I was stressed, and was continuously sick with something. My doctor told me that day at my physical that I was “flirting with diabetes”. As soon as I heard that, I decided it’s time to make some changes and I never looked back. The thought of being on medication/insulin haunted me. Everything began to click, even though I was doing crossfit, I was never consistent till two years ago. I laid down the plan, started working out 4-6 days a week, cleaned my nutrition up a lot and began to have a new, normal lifestyle that I couldn’t imagine living without now. There are so many chronic diseases that can be avoided. Consistent nutrition (80/20), sleep(7-10 hours) and exercise(4-6 days week) are medicine, the best medicine you can take in. Fast forward to 2 1/2 years later and I’m down 25 lbs, muscle mass and strength has increased tremendously, body fat is down and I feel better in my 30’s than I did in my 20’s! Love having this testimony and love encouraging others through my health and fitness journey! We all start somewhere, it’s so neat to see where that journey can take you!
I feel like my “why” or purpose is what I believe in, and I, wholeheartedly, believe in health and fitness. It took me so long to realize that and I want to share it with the world now! What we do with our bodies now will show up in our future. I have so much passion and drive to show people what I was completely blind to 2 years ago. I want people to know, whether you’re 6 years old or 96 years old, that it’s never too late to start your fitness journey! Start small and build from there, it is life changing! I ll happily cheer and support you along the way!
